ACB/EOW gets Tripathi’s remand in alleged liquorgate

A special Anti-Corruption Bureau/Economic Offences Wing (ACB/EOW) court in Raipur on Friday sent the former liquor corporation chief to the ACB/EOW custody in the alleged liquor scam in Chhattisgarh, a government lawyer said. ACB/EOW special judge Nidhi Sharma Tiwari granted Tripathis custodial remand till April 18, Special Prosecution Officer (ACB/EOW) Saurabh Pandey told The Pioneer. Arun Pati Tripathi, former Special Secretary at the Excise Department and Ex-Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited (CSMCL) was nabbed from Bihar and brought here for his role in the multi-crore liquor scam in the state. Also, the special court extended the custodial remand of Anwar Dhebar and another accused Arvind Singh for the third time till April 18 in the alleged liquor scam.  The two were presented before the special court on Friday after the expiry of their remands. Tripathi is the third accused arrested, after Singh and Dhebar were held last week by the ACB/EOW. The ACB/EOW have named 70 persons, including several leaders of the Congress and companies, in a FIR registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code in January 2024 in the alleged liquor scam following the report submitted by the Enforcement Directorate which has been also probing the case.
